Steve Heald became a trainee driving instructor in 2019. Based on the uncertainty he faced and the problems/pitfalls he sees for trainee instructors, Steve decided to set up a consultancy service, FaceUp, to help people entering the profession progress with success.
To be a driving instructor you need excellent driving skills. You will also need to pass an enhanced driving test. Steve will provide a free 1 hour assessment of your driving skills. If you wish to book additional lessons to improve your skills you have that option.
Help with all the training required to become a driving instructor, including pay as you go schemes. Referrals to specialists coaches to help you pinpoint where you need help.
Fitting training around current work commitments can be hard. Sourcing a vehicle or modifying your own is difficult. FaceUp can provide a vehicle purely when you need it, and you pay as you go helping you to minimise costs.
FaceUp was founded by Steve in Edinburgh after his own personal experience attempting to choose the right options, and after speaking to many trainees in Edinburgh. Whilst for many the option to go down the path of a large established driving school is the correct path (indeed it is the path Steve went down initially with no qualms) for some this isn't the best option. Maybe you want to dip your toe in the water, don't want to fully commit. See if it's the right career path without signing up on large contracts. Maybe you are worried about fitting the training in around existing commitments thus wanting a less intense training path. Maybe costs are an issue and the idea of paying as you train is appealing. Maybe you are a mixture of all of those issues.
Steve can consult with you and discuss the training path best suited for you.
